Latest Updates from Our Project:

More than 1500 backers! New pledge tier: Digital + TCG decks!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 09, 2023 at 09:06:35 AM

More than 1500 backers already! Thanks for your support!

We are very close to the next stretch goal, having raised more than €86K when there's still 2/3rds of the campaign ahead!

During these days, we have received lots of messages asking us to make the TCG decks available as add-ons for the digital pledges. Our initial reason that this was not already possible is that we wanted to avoid small shippings containing just one item, resulting in having to pay more for the shipping that the item itself.

We have been exchanging messages with people interested in having the TCG but not the physical game (for example, because they game on PC), and found a middle ground

We introduce a new pledge tier: Digital Game (Steam/Switch/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series) + the 3 TCG theme decks!

You can find this in the rewards section starting at 50€ (cheaper than getting the digital game plus the 3 game decks separately!). As this would count as a physical pledge tier, you can also add the other add-ons (or more decks if you want).

As with the other pledges, you will be able to select the platform for your digital game after the campaign ends (you will receive a survey, so stay tuned!)

We are making this a limited pledge for now just in case, to make sure we can answer to the demand. Remember that shipping will be calculated at the moment of sending your items, way after the campaign ends.

Social Stretch Goals update

We have unlocked two Social Stretch Goals since the last update!

  • Wishlist Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant on Steam: [link]
  • Retweet the Kickstarter Announcement Tweet: [link]
  • Like the Kickstarter Trailer on YouTube: [link]
  • Join r/SwordOfTheNecromancer on Reddit: [link]
  • Follow Grimorio of Games on Twitch: [link]
  • Post fanarts on Twitter with #SwordOfTheNecromancerRevenant and @GrimorioG so we can find them! You can also post them in our Discord server.

The Naginata and the Aegis Shield will be available for free to all backers! The Naginata will be a mix between a spear and a sword, having slashing moves but with a very long reach, while the Aegis Shield will be a unique shield with special attributes that will protect you from many dangers.

The next goal will be the Alternate Outfits:

  • Bandit Queen for Tama
  • High Priestess for Koko
  • Prince for Kara

These outfits are based on a "What if...?" scenario where the three characters chose a different path in their life. We will make them if we achieve enough social milestones to reach 30 points! We are almost there!

We are having a collaboration with an upcoming game! We will tell you more about it in a future update!

Until the next update, thank you again!

75K stretch goal reached! New stretch goal: self-insert Revenant! Monster Design Contest is back
about 1 year ago – Mon, Feb 06, 2023 at 09:00:15 AM

Thanks again for your support!

With this goal we will have two new bosses that will be designed by you, the backers! After the campaign ends, we will give the backer roles in our Discord server and open a channel so you can submit and discuss your boss ideas with the other backers.

After the submission period ends, we will have a vote period to choose the two bosses that will make it to the game! So start working on your boss concept!

These new bosses will appear in two new sidequests, so if you want to give them some lore or something we will try to include that in the game too! (as long as it doesn't contradict or go against the rest of the game, of course, and applying some restrictions for the age rating)

Having met this goal, this means we have to uncover the next one:

Customizable Yuu!

Okay, who is Yuu? If you've watched the Kickstarter trailer, or read through the whole campaign (or just ever looked at the cover art of the game at some point), you sure have seen this character:

This is Yuu, the first Revenant you will come across in the game, who will have a very important role in the story.

Originally, we planned him to be a self insert for the player (hence the name, "Yuu" = "You"), but due to scope constraints we decided to make him a mysterious hooded guy.

If we reach this goal, we will make it so you can customize Yuu (for starters, being able to change the name) with a variety of options, so "you" can be part of the adventure and travel alongside Tama, Koko and Kara!

The customization would be kinda simple to not compromise animations and other gameplay-related things, but will surely be a nice touch!

Social Stretch Goals update

We need your help to unlock the Naginata! Remember to perform these actions so we unlock all the points and add more free content!

We have achieved 14 points already, so close to unlocking the next goal!

Monster Design Contest is back!

Just as we did with the original game, we are holding a new Monster Design Contest so your monsters can appear in the game!

Anyone, backer or not, can participate in this contest following these easy steps:

Do you want your monster to appear as an enemy (and summon!) in Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant?

Draw your design and upload it on Twitter with the hashtag #SwordOfTheNecromancer or #SwordOfTheNecromancerRevenant and tag us (@GrimorioG) so we can find your drawing easily. The best will get in the game and its author will receive a Collector's Edition!

Winner(s) will be credited as “Guest Monster Designer”! The more people participate, the more prizes we will give, even to those who get on second or third place! Also, try to put Tama, Koko and/or Kara in the  drawing! (For scale purposes, and also to count as fanart for the Social Stretch Goals!)

By submitting your work for consideration in this contest, you understand and agree to the following terms:

  • Your work, in case of being selected as the winner or one of the winners (in case there are more than one), will be used exclusively on Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant and Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant derived products.
  • In case of being selected, you will get credited in the game as “Guest Monster Designer” alongside the name of your design.
  • You will  receive a prize according to the place your design got in the contest.  The first prize will be a Collector’s Edition of Sword of the Necromancer:Revenant, while lower places will get lower prizes or no prize depending on the total number of entries in the contest.
  • Some modifications may be applied to your design in order to make it more suitable to the game’s content.

Contest entries will be accepted until the end of the Kickstarter campaign (March 2nd), then all the backers will decide which monster(s) gets in the game!

Featured Game: Mika and the Witch's Mountain

Also from Spain, our friends at Chibig are having a Kickstarter campaign for their game too!

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a fantasy adventure about an aspiring witch who delivers packages to the townspeople of a small island. Explore every nook and cranny and take to the skies with your magic broom.

25 days of campaigning left, currently raising +200K euros and with the Nintendo Switch physical reward unlocked.

More than 1000 backers, 60K Stretch Goal and Social Stretch Goals reached!
about 1 year ago – Sat, Feb 04, 2023 at 06:05:44 AM

Again, thanks for your support! Lots of milestones today!

You are now more than 1000 backers! Thank you very much for believing in the project! Thanks to your support we have already reached the third stretch goal, and the campaign is keeping a really good pace!

Achieving this goal means that we will have almost double the music by Dale North and Emi Evans in the game!

You can hear a sample of the Battle Theme Dale composed for Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant below:

Having met this goal, this means we need to uncover the next one:

2 Additional Bosses, designed by YOU!

Do you have an idea for a boss? After the Kickstarter campaign ends, we will make a special channel in our Discord server (join it if you haven't!) where backers will be able to submit their boss ideas. Then, we will have an open vote and two of the designs will be selected to appear in the game*!

*Designs will be adapted to the game's style by our artists, and some restrictions would be applied if needed to adapt the design to the game's age rating.

The original authors of the bosses will be credited in the game as "Guest Boss Designer".

Do you want to make sure your idea ends up in the game? Remember we have the "Boss Edition" pledge tier (albeit it's not a cheap one)!

We look forward to see your ideas if we reach this goal! We are sure we are all going to have a good time with this!

Social Stretch Goals update

We have reached lots of social media milestones today!

We have achieved 13 points already, which means every backer will get the Sword of the Necromancer Original Costumes!

These costumes are based on what the characters wore in the original game. As Kara wasn't in the original Sword of the Necromancer, he will wear another character's (Sanzo, the leader of Tama's bandit band) clothes. Give the characters a nostalgic look while improving their stats with these costumes!

Note that the costumes will only change the character's 3D model during gameplay. Dialogue portraits, some cutscenes and CG scenes will still feature their default looks!

The next goal will be a new type of weapon to join the Katana: the Naginata! This weapon would have different combos and would be a mix between a sword and a spear!

Game features: City Builder

Let's talk a bit about one of the game's main features: the city builder. Due to plot reasons, the city of Euda get's totally destroyed, and it's up to the player to restore it to its former glory.

By exploring dungeons and doing sidequests, players will be obtain blueprints and materials, which can be used to create buildings and other things (benches, fences, etc.) for the city. This is similar to games like Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicle, which we take inspiration from!

After creating those buildings, you will need to bring people to the city to repopulate it! Some of these people will be special NPCs that will equip Euda with some feature like a Forge, an Inn or a Kitchen when they move in.

Some of these NPCs will be required to be recruited in order to advance in the story, while others will ask the player to go out of their way and complete some sidequest, but they all will be very useful!

What do you think of them? Which purpose do you think each one has? You can leave a comment in this update!

Thank you very much for your support!

Second stretch goal reached! Let's go for the third!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 02, 2023 at 05:39:29 AM

In less than 48h, we have reached the second stretch goal! Thanks to you!

We are extremely happy with the support the game is receiving, this is giving the team a very welcome extra motivation!

Achieving this stretch goal means that the game will have at least one extra mode: the Boss Rush. The bosses you face in Boss Rush will be tougher than the regular versions during the story, but will grant you special rewards and materials!

As we said in our last update, the extra modes resulting from the stretch goals will be available as a free DLC/update after the game's launch, as they require some extra development time (obviously).

Having met this goal, this means we need to uncover the next one:

Additional Songs by Dale North and Emi Evans

The original plan is to have Dale North compose 8 songs, 2 of which would be sung by Emi Evans (one of them being the Main Theme of the game). If we reach this goal, we will have 15 songs composed by Dale and 4 sung by Emi.

Dale is the composer of game soundtracks like Dreamscaper, Wizard of Legend and Sparklite, and has participated in many Wayforward games. He and Emi Evans (Nier, Nier Automata, Dark Souls 2) participated in the previous game with the song "Let's End This... Together!" which was one of the strech goals in Sword of the Necromancer's Kickstarter campaign.

These new songs would be used to better differentiate the dungeons and explorable fields, and make the moments outside of battle more enjoyable! There are also some new battle themes we would like to have for more tense fights!

Keep supporting the game to help us make it even better!

 Social Stretch Goals update

We have adjusted some of the milestones for the Social Stretch Goals (Steam wishlists and YouTube likes) to make them more attainable, as the entry barrier was a bit too high. Also, we have changed the way we display them to make it more visible how close we are to achieve a new milestone!

We have achieved 5 points already, which means every backer will get the Katana!

The Katana will be a sword type weapon (obviously) with a higher maximum combo than regular swords and a special charged attack that will make its user lunge towards the enemy and slash it like in those old Japanese Samurai movies.

This is a whole new type of weapon (meaning it's not a unique weapon), so you will be able to find elemental variants and also be able to forge it to your liking.

The next goal is Classic Costumes for the 3 characters! As Kara wasn't in the original game, we chose to make him wear Sanzo's outfit from Sword of the Necromancer.

Thank you very much for your support!

First stretch goal achieved!
about 1 year ago – Wed, Feb 01, 2023 at 03:23:53 AM

Thanks to you all, we have achieved the first stretch goal before the end of the first day of the campaign!

With this goal reached, we will be able to have more fully voiced dialogues in the game! That will really help to make them feel more "alive" and convey more emotion.

Having met this goal, this means we need to uncover the next one:

New game mode: Boss Rush!

One of the extra modes in the original game is back! Fight against 5 bosses in succession without any rest and get special rewards! The bosses will be taken from a pool of the bosses you've already defeated, and will have new AI patterns and increased stats for a bigger challenge.

In this mode, you will only be allowed to use the consumable items you can get during the battles, and you will have to choose a limited inventory of weapons before starting. So hoarding lots of items to try to brute force this mode will not be possible!

This mode would be available without need of completing the whole game (unlike in the original Sword of the Necromancer), alongside other game modes resulting from future stretch goals. We would make a special location to access the extra modes.

To not interfere with the current game's production plan, the extra modes (like this Boss Rush) will be available as a free DLC/update for everyone at some point shortly after the game's release.

Onward to the next goal! Thank you very much!
